These are the most frequently asked questions from patients at Advanced Laser & Electrolysis:
How does Laser Hair Removal work?
The laser’s light beam passes through the skin into the pigment of the hair root, which destroys the follicle’s capability to grow.
How long does Laser Hair Removal take?
Because the laser targets the pigment, it should be done during the active growth stage, which occurs every 6 to 8 weeks. We recommend a series of 6 to 7 treatments, every 6 to 8 weeks, for effective removal of hair in the treatment area.
Is Laser Hair Removal painful?
Most patients tolerate the treatment very well. Some report a slight tingling sensation. Because tolerance levels of patients vary and some areas of the body are more sensative, a topical anesthesia can be used.
What are the side effects of Laser Hair Removal?
Our lasers are non-ablative, so the risks are very low. However, as with all medical procedures, we have an informed consent that explains all possible risks. The appearance of the treated area immediately after a procedure varies from person to person. Immediate after-effects, if any, are minor.
What skin type and color is suggested for Laser Hair Removal?
Laser Hair removal can be performed on any skin type and color. However, hair color is an important factor. Because the laser is attracted to the pigment of the hair, treatments on red, blonde and gray hair are not effective. In those cases, we suggest Electrolysis, which yields permanent removal for any hair color.
